Dr. Nyoman Putu Riasa, SpBP-RE(K) is a senior consultant plastic surgeon, practicing in the main teaching hospital in Bali, Indonesia. Dr Riasa is a dedicated leader in the field of burn care, wound healing and reconstructive microsurgery. He played a pivotal role in founding and leading the Plastic Surgery Training Program, as well as research and clinical development of complex reconstructive surgery.

His professional experience span more than three decades, with 18 years of dedication leading the burn unit. He integrated reconstructive microsurgery into the burn unit service, enabling early reconstruction of high voltage electric injury and burn contracture reconstructions, including pediatric burn. He also played an essential role in the development of multidisciplinary teamwork, encouraging collaboration in the field of orthoplastic, oncoplastic and spinoplastic surgery. Furthermore, in a specialized surgical hospital, he is the lead surgeon in plastic surgery trauma and CMF trauma service. 

 

Dr. Riasa’s organizational experience in the field of burn care encompasses years of dedication, including serving as the first president of Indonesian Burn and Wound Healing Society (InaBWS), the Past President of Asia Pacific Burn Association (APBA) year 2013-2015, and the President of 10th Asia Pacific Burn Congress (APBC) 2015.  Additionally, he served as the advisory member of ISBI Practice Guidelines Committee on Burn Care since 2014. Currently he serves as the Honorary Treasurer of Asia Pacific Burn Association (APBA) (2016-now), and the Regional Representative at ISBI for Western Pacific (2022-2024) and (2024-2026). 

He has made significant contribution on national education services as a Member of Indonesian Colleague of Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (2009-2024), Member of National Board Examiner for General Surgeon and Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeon (2006-2024), External examiner in one prominent Malaysian university, and is currently an assessor in Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (IAAHEH) / LAM-PTKes (2015-now).

In charity services, he join with InaPRAS (Indonesian Society for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon) and Interplast ANZ to run outreach program for cleft lip-palate and burn reconstruction in various places in Indonesia. In 2008 and 2012 he awarded The Marshal International Scholarship from Interplast ANZ.
